High blood pressure (also called hypertension) could potentially happen to any pregnant woman with percentages ranging from 10 to 15 percent, where it can be categorized as relatively high. This phenomena is called pregnancy induced hypertension where pregnant mother have this risks.

This occurs regardless of whether in developing countries or developed countries of the medical aspects.

The normal blood pressure for people who are not pregnant is 140 to 90, but for pregnancy induced hypertension normal pressure is 110 over 70 or 120 to 80 … fire if blood pressure exceeds 140, it would be categorized as high.

There are two types of names given to the problem of high blood pressure depends on when they occur:

1. Occurs before 20 weeks of gestation – is called Essential Hypertension.

This may occur because the mother before pregnancy already have high blood pressure. Examination of the patient with pregnancy induced hypertension will be performed to see whether there are other diseases related to kidney or family medical history is absolutely no hypertension.

2. Applicable after 20 weeks of gestation – this is called Gestational Hypertension. This is known as high blood pressure during pregnancy.

Why High Blood Happens When Pregnant?

High blood happens to pregnant women because of the changes that occur in the process of development of the placenta.

“The development of the placenta is very important during pregnancy. In the placenta are many blood vessels. Blood pressure occurs when blood vessels in the placenta (spiral arteries) did not develop as they should (shrink) and cause the blood does not flow properly “.

What risks / complications?

Many mothers who have pregnancy induced hypertension have given birth safely. But this does not mean you can leave this problem without a doctor because these conditions may cause some problems or other complications. Among these are:

Lack of blood flow to the placenta. This may lead to a lack of nutrients and oxygen to the baby in the womb. Infant development are likely to be slow and the possibility of the birth of babies with low weight.

One problem known as placental abruption, where the placenta separated from the uterus earlier than due time. This, too, can deprive the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the baby. The main symptoms of placental abruption is bleeding a lot.

Premature birth or had to remove the baby from the womb before the time is ripe.

- As is known rare for a baby’s life can be continued if new content was 20 weeks.

- Every baby born prematurely will face many problems. Let the baby had been born at 28 weeks, the baby needs the perfect ventilation, should be incorporated into neo-natal ward, intensive care with very high costs. But all this depends on the analysis of the doctor.

In some cases, pregnancy induced hypertension can be a clue to the problem of preeclampsia. This could have very negative effects on the mother’s organs such as the kidneys, liver and brain. If preeclampsia develops in pregnant women, mothers can be a seizure, and this is usually referred to as eclampsia.

Medical methods?

If high blood pressure can be controlled, then the doctor will advise mothers concerned to proceed with close monitoring content.

Controls made itself (without medication) or a doctor will start taking high blood pressure medication.

Pregnant women with high blood pressure should not choose their food because of high blood other than high blood usually suffered by people who are not pregnant.

In short, it has nothing to do with high blood caused by foods such as excessive salt intake.

If the mother’s high blood levels are too high, your doctor may recommend early delivery by Caesarean surgery because when blood pressure is too high, the danger is in the mother.

Pregnant women suffering from high blood pressure is due to her pregnancy, the placenta and the baby itself. So as soon as the baby is born hypertension in pregnant women would go down unless there are other factors such as the age of the mothers who had already reached 40 years.

There are cases in which postpartum high blood pressure is not lost …. maybe as high blood pressure naturally it already exists in itself because of age or other factors and not because of pregnancy.
